Some ATX motherboards have a BIOS option or a jumper which allows you to specify that if power is lost, when it comes back you want the system to automatically turn on. If your motherboard has this option, you should be able to set it and then just cut the power to the ATX supply; then when you turn the power back on the motherboard should power up.

This is exactly why I'm using an AT style motherboard in may machine.

: OK, Got a ATX motherboard and power supply in the cabinet. How can I make it so the motherboard automatically comes on when the cabinet is powered up?

: As it stands, with ATX motherboards and power supplies, you have to power on the power supply and then the power switch on the motherboard.

: Can I just jumper the place for the power switch on the motherboard and bypass that?
