Having a monitor on for a while heats up the Monitor PCB, and solders can sometimes crack during the cooling process. I had a very similar thing happen, and it was just an old solder joint that had cracked. I'd confirm that the monitor is getting signal first, though. Its the logical first step (and a hell of a lot easier than yarding out the monitor PCB to check the solder joints).
