: OK, Got a ATX motherboard and power supply in the cabinet. How can I make it so the motherboard automatically comes on when the cabinet is powered up?

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "powering up the cabinet". Do you mean that you want your computer to boot when power is applied to the marquee light, etc?

The solution for my cabinet was as follows:
The power switch on an ATX case is simply a momentary switch ( like a Happs pushbutton ).
I just wired a Happs pushbutton in place of the power button on the case and placed it on the outside of the cabinet. To power up my computer I simply push the Happs microswitch button and it boots up.

In order to get the marquee light and computer speakers to power up and turn off with the computer I wired a 12v relay to one of the unused harddrive power supply leads; when the power supply turns on it activates the relay so I have 120v applied to an outlet strip on which the light and speakers are plugged into.

: As it stands, with ATX motherboards and power supplies, you have to power on the power supply and then the power switch on the motherboard.

Not exactly true. The power supply has to be "plugged-in" and have power available. The motherboard's power switch controls the power supply...by pushing the power switch on the motherboard you are actually turning on the ATX power supply which in turn powers-up the motherboard, drives, etc..

: Can I just jumper the place for the power switch on the motherboard and bypass that?

No

E-mail me if you need more info.
