In Reply to: Off topic ? Is there a way (i.e. a software) which would make possible to use a cabinet as a jukebox playing mp3s ? That means an arcade controls/monitor friendly player. TIA posted by DarkskyZ on 11, 2000 at 5:02 PM:

Obviously, the whole reason that we're able to make arcade cabinets is because the software (MAME, etc.) already exists. So if someone could make the software for a slick "jukebox-style" MP3 player, we'd be all set!

I'd love for the menu to look like a real jukebox: You could have a picture of the album cover on one side, and a track list on the other side. I would also love it if the controls were set up in such a way that you would play a song with letters/numbers just like in a jukebox (ie you could type in "3304" to play CD "33", track "04"). That way, the controls could be as follows: big buttons labeled 0-9 on the front for the tracks, a left and right arrow to scan through the CD covers themselves (and it would be REALLY cool if they "flipped" over to the next page), and then coin insert. That would be all you'd need.

Of course, I know squat about programming. But it would be cool!
