Charlie, Slow down, relax. Drugs and arcade
controls don't mix.
Multimeters are good for reading voltages, current
and resistance. You'll want to measure resistance.
Just wire switches across the contacts on the
keyboard. You can use the multimeter to trace the
contacts back to the keyboard controller.
