Crystal Trackball Users!!

Hey folks! Does anyone who uses a crystal trackball have this problem? When it's plugged into the serial port it acts erratic and jumpy. When plugged into the PS2 port it runs as smooth as silk. Is there some BIOS settings that might control the serial port?
