I've had no problems running Z26 under ArcadeOS. I'm using the default Z26.APP file from consoles.zip, and I don't get the message you described. This is with ArcadeOS 2.43 (the latest) and, well, I don't know the Z26 version off the top of my head.
If your setup is exactly this, I have no idea. If not, try it with the default Z26.APP file and see what happens....
