I think the previous message could have been read a few different ways but yeah, optical ones apparently are more of a freewheel type thing (haven't used them though) and the mechanical 12 position ones do the click click. Optical ones need some sort of optical interface, and mechanical ones need the other rotary interface board.
Ok, so I now plan to go with the rotary 12 position switch stick and maybe add an optical one later. How do i interface the 12 position one to MAME?
