If you can do the woodworking then I have to believe you can do the control panel. Check out some of the examples on this site (there are some excellent ones and some not-so-excellent ones) along with the articles and message board. Your project looks like it would be able to use the I-PAC and OPTI-PAC interfaces, which are quite easy to use. Check out:

for more info on these.

: I have decided to build a MAME cabinet. Computers and woodworking are not a problem for me. Where I'll trip up is in building the controller panel.

: First off, since I am only concentrating on classic games (Space Invaders, Asteroids, Defender, etc) I figure for each stick I only need 3 buttons. I've seen some panels with 6 buttons per stick. This would be overkill for me, don'tcha think?

: Also, I want to throw a trackball (Crystal Castles, Marble Madness, Missile Command) in, and a spinner (Tempest is my main reason for doing this!!!!). So, please throw in any suggestions: a 2 stick (3 buttons each) panel with trackball/spinner in the middle oughta do just fine, right?

: And, also, is there anyone out there savvy enough to build this for me? Of course, I would pay you for it. I am in Orlando, but if you are far away we can email schematics to ensure it'll marry with my cab once it's done.

: Any feedback will be greatly appreciated!
