The brightness (on most monitors) is set by the
"screen" potentiometer on the Horizontal output
transformer (The big black part with the thick
red lead to the CRT). The transformer should have
two controls. The top is focus the bottom is
screen (brightness). If these controls don't work
right, check the solder connections on the horz
output transformer especially near the end with
pots.
