: Off the top of my head, for a basic functioning IBM clone you want motherboard, hard drive, sound card, video card, 1.44meg floppy if desired, cdrom if desired, keyboard I assume is still needed despite IPac to get things set up, a case, RAM (probably won't come with motherboard), the actual cpu chip (might not come with motherboard), monitor? Mouse? Speakers? Starting to run out of ideas so I must have the essentials covered by now.

Basically that covers it. The only additions: Ocasionally, the CPU will not come with the cooling fan, but they usually do. The cheapest cases will not include the power supply. Various cables and adapters may be required. (Generally, these come with the motherboard, but not always the exact one you need.)
