If you look on the side of your microswitch there should be little lables on two of the pins. One says NO and the other NC.

The NO pin corresponds to Normaly Open - you push the button to make the circut. This is the way you want your microswitch wired up.

The NC pin corresponds to Normally Closed - you push the button to break the circut. I can't really think of any use for this mode of operation. To the best of my knowledge there are no arcade machines that use buttons in this way

PS a lot of microswitches these days don't have the NC pin - there doesn't seem to be much demand.
