Today I've got real dimensions of arcade controls from the original models of Happs, so I now I have redesigned my joystick project in Coreldraw, with the good sizes of all components and then took it to Photoshop, where I've been working all afternoon, trying to make the picture more realistic. Although I have some experience with Photoshop, I always forgot to do things like they should be done, keeping different layers for each part and saving selections etc, so most of my previous work was in vain. Now, I've tried to do this way, so I've saved some time, and most of the parts of the image can be modified. As I still have not the controls, I can't make them more like the real thing. However, I have an old joystick with microswitched push buttons, so I've enjoyed a lot trying to make realistic buttons. I must say they're quite nice, much better than in the previous pic, which were too exagerated, don't you agree?. I've had to deal a lot with Eyecandy filters: for inner bevels, dark glow, etc to 'model' them in 2D, in accordance to the effect of light, which contributes a lot to give us an idea of their shape.
