I don't know if anyone read my post from early this morning, but after work I came back and continued futzing (I was a bit too tired last night to futz adequately). Lo and behold, the monitor doesn't exhibit the weird flicker and stuff in the games, only in the ArcadeOS menus! I may try AdvanceMenu if I can't get that straightened out... but at least now I don't have to worry about building a sync combiner circuit.
Oh, and here's a sound tip: the 4W amp in an old SoundBlaster 16 card is plenty powerful to drive the speakers in this JAMMA cabinet to near-unpleasant volume levels - so I don't have to worry about amplification! The bass is a bit lacking, but I suppose I could consider adding a simple subwoofer later.
My weekend project will be wiring up the I-Pac and figuring out a good way to mount everything inside the cabinet. Once it's all put together, I'll take some photos and put the whole mess on the web.

(Yak Shaving Day is coming up soon, so don't forget to decorate the house with disposable diapers and fill dad's rubber boots with coleslaw!)
