Are you absolutly sure that where is no ground? It could be that there is really a composite sync wire and one of the others is ground. I have seen quite a few people who had 1 sync connection and they had to twist the 2 sync wires together and hook'em up. Don't know if your monitor is that way or not. Did you try to find a schematic of the monitor anywhere?
