I used the lowest setting on my iron, a little copper mesh to pick up the solder. You have to bend the wire leads from the LEDs back straight to get them out. But it was fairly easy. I then took some 22 gauge wire, pushed it through from the top and soldered them in at the bottom. Would probably have been cleaner to solder something other than wire directly to the board, maybe a small clip that I could easily attach/detach wire to.
