What I ended up doing with my MAME cabinet retrofit, was to ultimately go with a 19" SVGA PC monitor.

It was easy to interface to a PC (obviously), has great resolution for running Windows ( net surfing ) or playing PC computer games in addition to MAME, was as cheap or cheaper than a new 19" arcade monitor ( $200 after rebate at Fry's ), looks authentic to my eyes with the horizontal scan lines enabled, and fit good in my cabinet ( originally had 19" arcade monitor ).

The big plusses are resolution ( vector games probably look better than on arcade monitor...correct me if I'm wrong guys ), ease of hookup, price, and I can navigate Windows without getting all blurry eyed.

The minusses are it's not a "real" arcade monitor, not all the games fill up the screen completely ( probably could fix if I was running DOS instead of MAME32? ), not as big as a 27".

: Well i finaly got the Cabinet home. That thing is heavy .... the first time i seen it .."no i do not need help putting it into my van" =( Was i wrong that thing is a ton. Well back to my problem, looks like the cabinet was a Rampage VR from the burn in. The monitor was striped and was
19" ... in the trash it went.
: So that leaves me to replace it. the cabinet looks to hold a 19" OK but the shelf for the monitor is to high to put something bigger in. I would like to put the Happs 27" VGA monitor in it but that would mean i have to lower the shelf. Not a problem ... or should i put a real arcade monitor in it?

: Question 1) What are the deminsions for the Happs 27" monitor? It does not say on the site.
: 2) If i go with a real arcade monitor, What size and how do i connect to VGA card?
: 3) TV .... is that a bad word in this forum?

: I would like to run windows on the machine so that i could surf the net.

: ***** I do not have a Cabinet name yet but that will be determined by my daughter ... she is 5 years old so who knows what the name will be. I also have a 12 inch LCD touch that i want to work into the Cabinet ... maybe a second PC in the cabinet that will run MP3 jukebox via a LCD touch screen .... what do you think? No sleep for the next little while ... looking forward to commnets.
