I'm a computer geek by trade and hobby. I've been
involved in the computer industry for almost 15 years,
starting by selling IBM PC-XT clones when I was in
high school. $1495 for a Kaypro PC-XT clone, 20 meg
hard drive, 640KB RAM, monochrome monitor, and Wordstar!
Such a deal!

Until a year ago or so, I had absolutely no experience
with arcade machines other than having spent the
equivalent of some countries' annual GNP on them
when I was younger.

Today I know just enough about arcade machines to
consider myself dangerous :) All modesty aside,
however, I do know a lot about computers. I am
an MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) in Windows
95, a Certified Novell Administrator, and am almost
an MCSE. Presently I own 8 arcade machines in
various working conditions.

I have considered many times taking electronics
courses, but so far have not and have no electronics
experience other than tinkering.

So, with little arcade experience, and little electronics
experience, of course I decided to put up a FAQ about
just that! :)

: I've been impressed by the technical expertise of the contributors of this board. I was wondering...what's YOUR background? I mean, Saint - what do you do for a living? Or Andy Desak, Xiaou2, TwistyGrip, Tom61?, etc. Ok, so it's a little nosey but where did you get such expertise? It seems you'd need a degree in electrical engineering to figure out some of this stuff! Anyone?
