goofy mame (arcadeos?) question

First off, thanks to Mr. Salty, Brian Lewis, and Mr. Dread (arcadium) for their great technical suggestions in the last little while that have made all the difference in getting my display up and running. If anyone is looking for technical info on how to focus/sharpen/align the guns with the yoke and adjustment rings, I have recently become a jedi master at this skill.... ;)

My prob is: I had to adjust the arcadeos H sync from 105 to 108 to get the vid to sync properly... works fine in the front end. The problem is that it doesn't pass these settings on to mame, and, despite my best tinkerings in mame.cfg, I can't display a game that isn't out of sync. Therefore, I have 2 questions:

1: Can I somehow force mame to accept arcadeos' sync settings?

2: If not, which settings in mame.cfg should I be paying attention to? (-vsync? -ntsc? -320x240? what? what?)

I realize that this message board is primarily a HW board and not an EMU support site, but you fine fellas have been, without question, the motherlode of fine tech info thusfar in my efforts to get this pig to fly. I appreciate any help that might be offered.
