Its just a straight pass through. Meaning that you can connect it "backwards", because pin 1 in the middle connector goes to pin 1 on whichever side its switched to. (same for the other 15pins)
If you take it apart, its just a rotary switch, 3 connectors, and a bundle of wires in a box. You won't need any gender adapters, just a 'male-male VGA cable'.
You still need to make sure that you don't have it on the wrong monitor though. Most have a 'dead' spot in the middle of the switch, so if you have it halfway between the the 2 setings, niether mon will get input(you'll have to hold it there, but pressing esc doesn't take long)
: The description says:
: Use to switch between TWO COMPUTERS and ONE VGA MONITOR.
: Ace wants to do just the opposite: Run TWO VGA MONITORS from ONE COMPUTER.
: I guess you wouldn't need to amplify if you weren't going to use the video signal simultaneously, huh? Is it safe to assume you could use this $11 box with some gender switching adapters?
: With the other device I mentioned, the other post was right about potential monitor damage. I assumed you would NOT be running both monitors at the same time, with only the appropriate monitor powered up. The same warning applies with this $11 alternative, too.
