With the shift-key function in mame couldn't you assign the two door inputs to be player3 and player4 coin-ups when some other key is pressed?

: I'm getting ready to build my MAME cabinet and I'm in the design phase. I've got two designs in mind. One design will only allow me enough room to put a two player coin door on, and the other will allow me to put a 4 player. My question is, which one would work better...as far as for the 4 player games such as Simpson's, TMNT, X-men, Gauntlet, and any others that require a separate coin input for each player. Is there a way to make a 2 player coin door work like that? Any input is welcome. I'm anxious to start construction, but I want to figure out a good design first. Thanks!

: Game on!! Brian
