It really depends on what you are doing. Are you running DOS only or Windows? Are you connected to an arcade monitor? Is this card only for mame or are you balancing your needs against other 3d games.
I like the newer ati cards and have found more ram *DOES* matter. I am using mine in dos with an arcade monitor.
