I also went to a commercial printer with a jpg to get it printed. My image was 27.5" x 7". They used a plotter and it turned out great.

I would suggest making your image at least 300dpi. You need a decent computer to work with an image that size...but 100dpi looks kinda crappy.

I had no acces to Kinkos or other large chain....the local printer charged me $26...I probably would have used up a whole ink cartridge if I printed it myself ($34) and the quality would have been crappy...AND I would have had to tape it together and then back-lighting it would have been a no go.

I paid $8.00 for two pieces of Plexi cut to size...sandwitched the print between them...it looks great backlit.
