OK. Someone had to do it, so I will. I have a nice 27" TV in my cabinet, and I love it. I had an ATI Rage Fury already, and it has S-Video out, so I didn't need to purchase that. I ended up getting RCA's top of the line 27" TV on sale for $300 locally. They had it marked $100 off as part of a "bait and switch" attempt, but I knew what I wanted. It works great. I have a friend with a 19" arcade monitor, and for the newer games, they just didn't look right on the small screen. Kind of like watching your favorite movie on a 13" TV. Maybe it was just his arcade monitor, I don't know. He has since swapped it out for a 20" computer monitor, and the picture is better, and Windows looks nice, but it is still small.

I don't go in to Windows except when I am networking with my other computers so I can dump the latest updates to the cabinet, and in DOS and MAME things look good to me.

I am sure that for some extra CA$H you could get a "real" arcade monitor in the 25-27" range, but then you won't be able to easily (not imposible, I am sure) be able to hook up your playstation or whatever. I TV is easiest for that.

No matter what choice you go with, there will always be drawbacks. Live with the drawbacks, and enjoy the benefits of whichever route you choose. If there was a clear cut winner here, people wouldn't have to ask what route to go, and people do all of the time.
