I was initially planning to get a cocktail cabinet because I got a small 17” monitor for free. I also find them cool and I thought that it would be easier to fit it in my home. What I really wanted was a full size upright cabinet but they look huge when you put them in your home instead of the arcade.

I found the perfect solution when I stumbled over a generic cabaret cabinet that I wanted for the side art. I bought it on impulse and I almost regretted it when I realised how small the control panel was. I had to remove several controls that I originally planned to put on the control panel. The result works quite well but I really want two spinners and more space around the trackball. The solution is probably swappable panels...

Anyhow what I would like to point out is that I have fallen totally for this mid size cabinet. The size is just perfect in a home environment and it is possible to get the controls you need if you adapt swappable panels (or just live with some limitations like only two players with two joysticks and six buttons each).

I now have two full size cabinets in the garage. I was planning to exchange the cabaret for one of them but like I said, the cabaret has proven its value and that is the one I will spend my time and money on to be perfect!

More information about the cabinet on my homepage:

: What are the best cabinets to make a Mame cabinet out of? Also which ones are not good? I plan to get one from an auction so would like to know if there is a particular style that's better.
