: : Which type do you prefer and why?

: When it comes time for me to build my panels I am going to try to go with leaf because it is more like the original 80's feel. People will say they're less durable and may slip out of alignment etc, but I won't have a million people bashing at it for one thing so I don't mind trying it out. The microswitches I hate because of the damn click! I remember 10 years ago I bought a Quickshot grip joystick for Nintendo and it had microswitches in it instead of the calculator style silent pads like the normal joysticks had, and I couldn't stand playing games because all I heard was click click click click click click click click.

: Right now my Ikari style joysticks are microswitches and I'm going to see if it's straightforward to get leafs put on them. I don't know how loud microswitches can be heard once mounted inside a cabinet but if I can hear them at all, I'll go nuts and start putting house insulation in there! Hey maybe that's not such a bad idea...

lol :) I know what you are talking about. The cheesy home system sticks that used micros were quite loud! Mostly though, it was because they were housed in a super thin plastic shell. Micros under a 3/4inch enclosed partical board shell is barely noticable with game sounds on.

Ball top 80's leaf sticks do a have a better circle feel, but I prefer the accuracy, and low maintainance of micros.
