The tilt switches are used to give a tilt warning or set
off and alarm and to stop the arcade game or pinball machine when someone
is lifting the game or hitting the cabinet really hard.
It is used to try and stop damage to the machines.
If you have a look at a Jamma pinout there are inputs
tilt/slam. If you wanted to you could hook the switches
up the these inputs on the Jamma connector but they are
not needed unless you think someones is going to try and
damage your machine.
