Agreed. Most converters suck badly. The only nice thing that a converter can sometimes do for you is tile an imagine across a number of televisions (say two rows of three).
If you are insistant on buying a convertor, think about this. Isn't it about the same price to buy a reasonably priced video card and a REAL arcade monitor with a VGA in? Or a card that supports fixed frequencies and an arcade monitor? Or a video card with TV out and a TV, if you are insistant on using a TV.
