This is just an FYI.
I have two old Wico trackballs (TBs) for the Atari 2600 (or
8 bit computers). Wico used to advertise using real
arcade parts, and they weren't kidding. The optic boards
inside these seem to be exactly the same as those used on
real arcade TBs. So, if you need a replacement, don't
pay Happ $16 for each one, get an old Wico TB
(e.g. from Ebay).
I should note that I haven't actually tried the optic
board in an arcade machine, but they do look
exactly the same. I'll attempt to test this soon.
