I think everyone is new once. A lot depends on your background. I've ripped apart more PCs then I would like to remember. I started in DOS which is a big help when working on this stuff.
If you don't have that background it makes this a lot harder.

Sometimes I think that people don't read all the helpful advice in the archives or search for an answer first. A lot of the same questions come up over and over.

The other problem is everyones setups aren't the same. Different sound cards, different video, Windows/DOS etc. What is an easy configuration on one motherboard, might never work on a different one.

I had the worst time with a PCI sound card. (it 4 different sound cards to get one that would work) All the help I received here still couldn't fix it. Only through a lot of trial and error (and $) could I get it to work.

I think that people should be encouraged to search the archives first and then ask a question. A lot of the answers are already there.
