Andy has been producing the I-PAC for a long while now. I have been reccomending it in the message board. It is incredibly easy to use and for $49 is the best deal around. There are a few limitations, but for most gamers it is the way to go. I hacked a keyboard, a controller, and a powerramp before I finally found the I-PAC. The following list of its strengths are taken from someone elses previous message:
I think the I-PAC is a great product and the above statement was not true when the product was first developed. I just constantly see on this board people recommending the I-PAC to reduce the number of buttons on a panel, when you could do this with any other option.

The strengths of the I-PAC are:

1. Faster than a keyboard hack circuit and designed for MAME.
2. Price.
3. Screw terminals for solderless hook-up of buttons.
4. 28 control inputs with no blocking
5. Daisy-chainable for 55 independent inputs
6. common ground connection for easy hookup.
7. easy hookup of LED for Caps Lock, etc.
8. USB or PC/AT supported, and
9. especially, the knowledge and support of Andy Warne.
