I considered this option for my minimame in a coffee table style cab (lays flat on a coffee table with controls on 2 sides), but not the countertop version I am building now. I am using a 10" svga monitor in mine.

: Being into making MP#3 systems for cars, we've dealt with this issue.

: : 1. would it be possible to connect a laptop screen to a desktop pc

: Yes, but it would be very expensive. You have to buy a special video controller card that will run you approx. $300. http://www.flatpanel.com

: There are LCD screens that you can use video out with, which is a cheaper option. Screen cost is approx. $150 depending on size and you can use a TV out card. Might be a better option since you can do TV out with mame.
