: How much I should spend to make a arcadestick myself(US Dollars)?

Here is a rough estimate based on the most common examples (2 joysticks, 6 buttons each and function (coin input, player start) buttons):

Joysticks (2) - 20.00
Buttons (20) - 30.00
I-PAC - 50.00
Wood - 10.00
Wire and connectors -10.00

Grand total $120.00

Add for paint, tools needed (if you don't have them), Lexan or plexiglass (if desired), contact paper, etc.

Subtract about 40.00 if you hack an old keyboard or add about 10-50.00 if you use a different pre-made encoder.

Remember that once you start this you will probably find you also want:

Optical Interface -40.00 - 50.00
Trackball - 60.00 each
Rotary Joysticks -40.00 each
Spinners -60.00 to -110.00 each
Steering Wheels -125.00
Star Wars Yokes Good Luck
Light Guns Good Luck

All these are new retail prices, you could find the stuff used and save some $$$.

Gets pretty easy to spend several hundred (or more dollars on this, but then that's half the fun. (The other half is playing on the stuff when you finish!!!)

Good luck with your project if you decide to build one. Lots of helpful hints on this site.
