The cables for high speed USB devices can be up to 5 meters (~16 1/2ft) and for low speed devices up to 3 meters (almost 10ft). A keyboard is a low speed device. You can use up to 5 hubs and cables to extend the range. I do not know if the hubs need to be self powered or not but I would guess so.
