Discharge it once, then wait a few seconds and hit it again. The metal chassis is all the ground it needs. Again DO NOT leave it pluged in! If you are very woried about ground for some reason, take a long wire attach one end of it to the frame and run it outside, put the other end 2-3 inches down in the ground.

: I'm no EE but shouldn't the unit be plugged in (albeit off) so that the charge can leave the unit through the wall ground?

: NO! NO! NO!!! Unplug the monitor from the wall and discharge it to the frame. The spark to the screwdriver from the opening (anode) gets rid of the charge. Some monitors have an auto discharge so leaving the unit off for 2-24hrs will discharge it as well. But I always like to play it safe and test it anyway!
