You need the right tools to make it look good. Don't forget to take precautions to keep it from chipping where it is cut. Also, you must protect the material durring construction to prevent it from being scratched (this stuff is way thinner than the stuff they use on counter tops). All this adds up to a lot more work to me.... but it would look nice if you do it properly.

Personally I use 3/4 inch Ranger (high density fiber) board. I'm working on my third MAME cabinet atm. Reconditioned and converted an upright, built a cocktail from scratch and now the head-to-head sit down ;)
