You are using MAME 32 in Windows and I am using the DOS version of MAME. In the MAME32 GUI, which I haven't seen, you need the Enter key to start the game. And I assume that the MAME32 GUI doesn't allow you to remap the function for starting a game to another button. Is that correct?

Of course once a game is started and you need the Enter key, in the configuration menu for example, you could remap the Enter key to a single hidden button on your cabinet. But that doesn't matter if you can't start the game. You might ask Andy about this to see if he has any suggestions. He was real helpful with questions I had about my IPAC.

: : So I wired 2 buttons to Player 1 button 7 and 8 on the IPAC, when into MAME and changed pause and escape to button 7 and 8. Works great. You probably could do it for the other functions as well.

: Yes, that's kind of what I do now. My main problem is that I want to exit the game I'm playing and then select another game from Mame32 and run that. I've got the UI Cancel remapped for a single button and the joystick handles the up and down cursor keys a treat within the Mame32 GUI so that I can highlight the game I want, but to run the game I really need the Enter key.

: Maybe I could try to get hold of the Mame32 source and add a hot-key.
