In my E-mail, I even mentioned that I thought it was odd that IKARI Warriors gives me the message "Screen flipping in cocktail mode is not supported, Press OK to continue" (Like I really care!, seriously, it's good to know, I guess) While Top Gunner gives me the message "PROM not found, the game may not operate correctly. Press ANY key to continue." Fairly serious problem (although it plays fine, at least at my level of skill.)
Looking at the source code it is possible that they were trying to keep someone from starting a completely broken game and locking up their machine, so I suggested "Press any key to continue or CANCEL to exit"
Anyway, bottom line, it's not changing. I found a workaround that I am happy with. I found the source code for anyone who wants to make more extensive changes and I clarified the issue and let everyone benefit (hopefully) from my research.
All in a day's play!!!
