Track n Field Question

I am trying to figure out how to play 4 player games on Track and Field. I checked KLOV and it didn't have the answer. You can only have 2 players play simultaneously so I am guessing that there has to be 4 separate start buttons. Is that right? If so how has anyone wired this up with the IPAC. Just use an extra player 1 and 2 button player 3 and 4 start buttons and remap in MAME?
