That's basically what I thought. You'd have wires from the sticks and buttons running to three db25's (in my case) and then have the ide cable from the KE72 terminate into 3 db25's as well. Simply slice off one end of the two IDE cables and wire those to DB25 connectors.

here are my NEW questions for you. What purpose does the terminal block serve inside the control panel? I was thinking I would need one too but I'm not sure what purpose it would serve. And, if I use one, wouldn't I just run the stick/button wires to one side and the wires from the DB25's to the other side?

Second, is soldering the best way to convert the 28 awg wire from the IDE cables to the 22 awg wire that would run into the db25's? Or should I just strip down the snipped off end of the ide cables and wire them directly to the db25's? I'm thinking the former but I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts.

And yes, you'd better put some pictures up. I fear that I'm going to be a LONG time wiring this up.
