Trackball and spinner at the same time

Well, not really. What I want to know is it better to go with wiring the trackball and spinner to the same KE72T and using a switch to toggle between which one to use? Or, would it be more desirable to have one run through the Happs USB interface and eliminate the need for the switch?

My wife and kids may not feel comfortable with a switch and that's why I'm hesitant. But I'd also like to have this work with the DOS MAME which may not be an option if I go with a USB solution.
