Nothing special really. I simply had 1/8" clear Plexiglass cut together with the wood (to ensure a precise fit). Sanded off the edges with a file, then sandpaper (rounded off the edges).
Then, I had the art printed at Kinko's. Since it's a grayscale art, it printed fine in laser printer. (from illustrator, vector art). I'm not too happy about the quality of the print itself... could have been better. But that's something I can reprint anytime.

It's basically a sandwich: wood, art, plexiglass.
Above is a small screenshot of the art I printed.

Look at the link below, for Robotron3000. My inspiration for this. This guy is a genious! He gave me the art for the stars. But look at the quality of HIS work. Awesome...
