: I need some friendly advice on what pieces of hardware I would need to build a computer for my mame cab. I want to be able to play any game supported by mame including neo geo games. I've been looking over this message board and I notice I will need 96mb-128mb of ram and a sound blaster 16.

To play the Neo games you should have about 128mb for the best experience.

: What type of CPU would I need? Intel or AMD?

Either brand name should be ok. I personally use a p3-550 and can play everything with decent performance. All of the newer Williams games (MK2 MK3, Hit the Ice, etc) still are quite slow though. You should look at atleast a p2-300 to the best performance from 99% of the games. I ran my cabinet with an older Celeron 300A and even the newer Neo games ran fine.

: What would be the best video card to use with a arcade monitor? I was think about either a ATI card or a SiS6326 card. I see alot of people using different ATI cards, which one is the best?

not sure on this one sorry.. I use a monitor

Hope this helped out a little bit.. I'll let you know my machine's Spec's...

p3-550
256mb ram
20gb hd
Ati Xpert98 8mb video card
Old ISA Sound Blaster 16.

it runs quite nicely :)
