I have no experience with this card but I did buy a cheap PCI video card from my local parts store with Vesa 2.0 and 4MB and it works fine for the 80s MAME games I play.
I am curious to know how it goes. I have extra parts and was planning on building a minicabinet for basically the same purpose but with a PC monitor. Your idea sounds better!
