Since you seem to have chosen one of the 2... I would probably say the major consideration to decide on between the 2, would be that the WG U3100 has a 0.71 mm dot pitch (19" model), and only has a PC video connection. Whilst a SVGA puter monitor probably has around .25-.28 mm dot pitch. In short, the U3100, running windows will be fuzzy and blurred, but manageable. From what the WG tech guy told me, the only connection coming from the U3100 is identical to a PC monitor connection. These U3100 monitors are really used for industrial and some of the new PC based videos. They are gold in the coffer for mame only cabinets (although I think you can build a adapter for a Jamma harness, but its pretty expensive). A lot of people here like them for the classic monitor feel and look. Another consideration is how well will your SVGA monitor hold out running on on its side. Although I am not fully up to date on that debate, I see message time and time again not to run some monitors vertically. The U3100 would not have a prob either way.
I use a standard refurbed arcade monitor that I just built a Jamma adapter (edge and fingerboard) for adding PC audio amp, PC2Jamma video hack, common molex Control panel connectors for the encoder, etc, and just swapping it out when I want to put my Jamma PCB board in vs the Mame system. Only problem I have from time to time is having to adjust sync's and screen sizes. (Plus occasionally rotate the monitor)

: I think I am ready to start arcade cab #2 but I need help choosing which type monitor to go with. I would really like to run Windows (in vertical mode) so I am probably going with a SVGA monitor (or possibly a WG3100). I know it's been asked a hundred times but can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks...
