I have a stand alone control panel that goes on my desk, but it's quite small and only had little rubber feet so was suffering from sliding around when things got a bit frantic. However I have found the perfect material to stop this.

At Halfords (UK car accessories shop) you can buy these silicon foam rubber mat things that you put on your dashboard and then put things on top. These mats have to have the highest coefficient of friction of any material known to man! I tacked one to the base of my panel and now even my most frenetic efforts don't make it slide.
