Originally I was going to put a 4 way on my control panel but I don't think I will. It seems that you are now able to configure your 8 way stick to respond like a 4 way stick through MAME settings, TAB, then INPUT GAME I believe. You can also configure your 8 way to act like a 4 way "Qbert" stick responding only to the diagonals. I have searched this board including the archives and wrote down some notes on how to do it. I haven't done it yet but it sounds promising. Maybe some who has done this can report on their results.

Good Luck!

: Ok, here's the questions. When I build my new "accessories panel" I'm planning on putting two spinners, (one on each side) and a trackball in the middle. Since I have two 8-way joysticks on my existing panel, I'm thinking of putting a 4-way joystick on this new panel (either beside or above the trackball). My main question is of the games that use 4-way joysticks, how many of them are 2-player games? I'm curious because if there are several than I may opt not to put just one 4-way stick on my panel and instead possibly buy two Supers that can be either or. I'd look this up in SortInfo but I've never d/led it and my modem is super slow. Thanks.
