SortInfo is able to sort MAME game info per controller and more... Bare in mind that it is a beta (I have found several bugs but the program is working if you just want to load MAME listinfo and sort on controllers etc.). I am working on a final version 1.0 with added drag and drop support, optimized redirection routines and an option to import catver.ini from Arcade@Home. It will make it possible to sort on category and MAME version just to mention a few of the things I am working on right now...
