I think what your trying may end up being quite foolish... But basically you could buy 3inch trackball mounting plates... and figure out a way to suspend the trackballs lower using woodblocks or something...
The prob with those larger ones is that the spin speed is reduced because of 2 factors.
1 - Weight
2 - Bearing positions
The bearings are too far away from each other which causes too much gravity in the center - and results in a ton of friction.
You will probably develop great wrist strength from playing with these though :)
