1. Edited MSDOS.SYS so that BootGUI=1
2. Edited SYSTEM.INI so that shell=command.com

Would that make the computer boot to a DOS prompt but have a different memory handling than just using BootGUI=0? I don't know because I havn't tried it yet but it might be worth a try...
